Stella is 6 years old!

Stella turned six years old this month. We celebrated the milestone with her friends with a unicorn-themed party. We had 17 children in attendance. 

The backdrop was decorated to look like a smiling unicorn. I found a tutorial with Portuguese instructions on how to make giant paper flowers. They were quite involved to create but became the focal point of the decoration.  

I have been using my Cameo paper cutter a lot recently as I have become more familiar with the proprietary software required to set up the file. I used it for several pieces of the party such as to cut the eyes and horn I used to decorate the gift bags.

I had all intentions of making Stella's birthday cake, but I just ran out of time. Sam's Club bakery came to the rescue. I ordered a chocolate cake frosted in white and decorated with a few flowers on top. I embellish it with eyes, ears and a horn to resemble a unicorn. The cake looked great and tasted good also.

We had a variety of games and crafts at the party. The kids made Unicorn poop (slime), and a unicorn necklace. They also played glow in the dark unicorn lasso (glowstick ringtoss) and pin the horn on the unicorn.

The weather this winter has been unseasonably warm. We have had temperatures ranging in the high 40's and 50 degrees so I decided to have a piñata outside. Of course, the day of the party we had a high of 42 degrees. Not the coldest day in history, but still a bit chili. Kids, however, seem to be immune to cold weather. They were happy to be outside without their jackets.

Making pinatas is a  talent I have developed in the last year. I have made several now, and love my happy cloud pinata the best. Every time Andrew sees it, he says "Happy!"

I love my Stella Bella. She is so loving and is the first one to tell me "I love you mommy" and give me a kiss every day.  She LOVES to dance and can be heard singing at all hours of the day and night.
