Another birthday has come and gone! As far as milestones years go, this one is not really special. What made it special was the fact I got to celebrate it with some really old friends from my branch in Italy who happened to be in town at that time.
The Cole family has been friends of my family for over thirty years. Fernanda was my young women's leader for a time. Her sons were around my and my sibling's ages so we attended church activities together.
Their son and his wife now live in Utah and the Cole were here visiting them when I invited Joel and Sava to a birthday BBQ so Joel's parents were able to join them. I can't describe how good it is to see someone who I have not seen in nearly 20 years and to relieve memories from my childhood.
In addition to the BBQ we celebrated as a family and in conjunction with Todd's family that same weekend. Some of my largest gifts were a Silhouette Cameo 3 cutter. It has been difficult to learn to use, but it has come in handy with some projects like cutting the bowtie paper tags we are attaching to the trail mix we are giving dads for father's day in our ward.
My other big gift was a bubbling disappearing water fountain for the backyard. It took several weeks to get the parts in to assemble it. Originally one of the two packages shipped by Amazon never arrived. We didn't discovered the error until we opened the box to begin working on the project. It took a week to get the new shipment and another weekend to finally get to it.
I love the way it turned out. It is relaxing to sit next to it and listen to the sound of water trickling down the side of the urn and into the rocks beneath it.
