Hale Center Theater: The Little Mermaid

Todd and I took Emilia to the Hale Center Theater production of the Little Mermaid. It was a really fun date!

She chose to wear the new shirt she bought for herself. It is a cat made with reversible sequin. If you pet it it changes its color from black to gold.

For dinner Emilia chose to eat at Zuppa, one of her favorite restaurants. We were done early enough that we decided to stop at a park near the restaurant before going to the play.

There production was amazing! The costume, set and the talented performers were incredible. My favorites were Ariel, Sebastian and Flounder (played by a 6th grade boy) but all of the performers were amazing.

The aerial acrobats were a let down. I don't think they added much to the performance and I felt uncomfortable for the couple that shared the same straps. There was just so much going on during the songs they performed (Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl) that I couldn't keep track of everything happening on stage, let alone in the air.

Emilia's favorite part of the whole evening was meeting the cast after the play. Especially Ariel and Prince Eric. Emilia was wearing her sea turtle necklace from Hawaii and Ariel took the time to ask her if she too collected thingamabobs and compliment her on her taste in jewelry.

I am so glad we had the chance to take Emilia on this date. It was really fun to sit next to her and share in her excitement.
