Kauai - Kappa Farmers Market
Produce from grocery stores is so expensive that locals and tourists all go to the local farmers markets to buy what they need.
Interestingly enough I didn't see the types of fruits and vegetables I usually see at my grocery store. No tomatoes, lettuce or broccoli anywhere. Instead a huge variety of tropical fruits were on display. Since mother's day was only a couple of days away, a several vendors were also selling flowers.
I purchased some lichee and longan. They look very similar, one is red the other a greenish brown (similar to kiwi). Their taste is very different. Longan taste like a melon, lichee taste more like a green grape. I liked the Longan simply because it was sweeter.
We didn't get to enjoy our treat long because our flight was leaving that evening and for some absurd reason people are not allowed to take any fruits or plants from the islands into the continental US.
