I'll be your listening ear

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, the popular saying goes. And that is the motto I'm living by lately.

Since we've returned from Hawaii I feel I've had to deal with one major trial after the other... one thing gets better another challenge begins. I thought things would get better but I now realize that I should accept my present reality and be ever more grateful for what I have and what I'm learning.

A few weeks ago I woke up with a loud ringing in my right ear. It has not gone away and after two audiologist test, I was told I was progressively and possibly irreversibly loosing my hearing out of that ear. The doctors can't pinpoint the cause and therefore can't treat it.  I'm waiting for more lab results to come back and to see what the MRI shows.

If you've ever known someone with Tinnitus or experienced it yourself you know it is a hard adjustment hearing a high pitch sound in your ear that won't go away no matter what you do. It can really drive you crazy.

I've decided however not to let it affect me. We all experience trials. Some we can see, some we hear and some we can't even tell are there. So instead I'm focusing my attention outwardly towards my family, friends and neighbors to see what I can do to lighten their burdens.

It's paying off! I feel closer to my Savior and I know I am making a difference - at least in my life.
