Eye Opener

I poked my eye on the pointy part of a sheperd's hook while I was doing some yard work on Saturday. I was looking at the area I was clearing and did not noticed how close I was to the hook.
I felt my eye get pushed in and I became really frightened. I opened it right away and noticed my vision was very blurry but not gone. I can't tell you how I felt. I uttered many prayers of thanks in those first few moments.
And then the shock was replaced by pain... if you have ever had a corneal abrasion you know what I'm talking about.
I went to an instant care, but after they saw my injury they directed me to the ER.
The ER doctor was very kind but of no confort. His first comment after the examination was "In the 19 years I've been practicing, I've never seen an injury quite this bad". He even invited Todd to have a look.
From what he said I scraped half of the cornea on my right eye. People usually get scratches from a foreign body entering their eye. I managed to take out half of it. Luckly it is only a severe corneal abrasion and once the inflamation recedes I'll regain my 20/20 vision.
I'm gradually doing better. Saturday and Sunday I could not open either eye. The movement of one eye would hurt the other. I was so happy on Monday when I could see Carson and Emilia's faces again!
Finally I'm able to open both eyes. The ophthalmologist today reassured me that I'll be ok in a few more days. I can't wait to be able to see well enough to drive.
Thanks to all of you who helped out during these last couple of days.
