I woke up at 2:30 am on Friday with some pain, which is not unusual this late in the pregnancy. What I did not expect was for it to get stornger and longer as time went on.

I waited about 1 hr before waking Todd up to make sure the contractions I was feeling were not false labor. We were both very surprised that I was feeling such painful contractions four weeks before my due date. So were were very hesitant to call someone to watch Emilia.

I should have known better. This is exactly what happened with Emilia. I woke up in the middle of the night and an hour later when I checked into the hospital I was dialeted to 6 cm. It was no different this time. By the time I checked in I was already at 6 cm.

Carson Leland Humphries was born at 11:16 am on Friday, December 4, 2009. He weighted 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19.5 inches long.

The labor was super easy... especially after the epidural :) I just hung around for a couple of hours waiting for my OBGYN to be done with her other cases. Once she was ready it only took one contraction.

The timing was a little off however. Todd was planning to leave today on a quick trip to Salt Lake City with Emilia. She was really looking forward to seeing her grandparents and playing with her cousins.

I was really looking forward to a few days to myself to wrap up some unfinished things, pamper myself and relax before the baby came. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'm just glad that he didn't come while Todd was in Salt Lake.

We are so excited to have him! Emilia has warmed up to him super fast. The first thing she asked this morning was for Todd to take her to see baby Carson.
