Happy Birthday Emilia

Emilia's birthday was on Friday. We celebrated it by taking her and her friend Claire to the zoo. Overall, it was a blast even though it didn't start out that way.
It took us an hour to find parking at the zoo. There were 84 school busses filled with elementary school children visiting the zoo. They took up half of the parking lot. The other half filled up with cars right before we got to the gate. Cars were parking all along the roads in the neighborhood next to the zoo. The double stroller we borrowed from a friend had some flat tires. She had warned me about it but I had forgotten to pump them with air so we had to walk the long distance to the entrance of the zoo with two little girls and their Dora roller bags. But we took it all in good stride and looked at it as an adventure. We ran across soccer fields and up and down hills singing silly song about choo-choo trains and busses.

The lines were long and the animal exhibits crowded but by 1:30 all the school children left and we had the zoo to ourselves. It was really a lot of fun to see the penguins and baby bear, feed the birds and pet the fish.

We also got to ride the train.

I can't believe my little baby is turning two. Time really does fly when you're having fun.
